Method 1. Make a solution of copper sulfate by placing four spatula-tips of copper sulfate in about 25 cm3

2. Pour this solution into the flask as shown in the diagram. 3. Attach rubber tubing between the lower connection on the Liebig condenser and a tap.
4. Attach rubber tubing to the upper connection on the condenser and place the other end of the tubing in the sink.
5. Turn on the tap. 6. Gently heat the flask using a Bunsen burner. 7. After a few minutes look at the liquid being collected in the beaker.

Chromatography
Chromatography is a way of separating mixtures made up of a lot of different parts. An example is black ink. Black ink is actually made from inks of many different colours mixed together. Chromatography can separate these inks because different ink particles travel different distances up the chromatography paper.
