The female reproductive system consists of: The ovaries which contain the eggs. The fallopian tubes which carry the egg to the uterus (womb). The uterus is where the fertilised egg develops into a baby. The vagina holds the penis during sexual intercourse so that the sperm can be released into the female’s body. The vagina also acts as the birth canal at the end of pregnancy.
