Truman State University Wind Symphony I Curan Prendergast, Conductor

Truman State Wind Symphony I is the premier concert band at Truman State University. Comprised of both graduate and undergraduate students, its over 60 highly talented members are selected by audition each fall semester. Wind Symphony I prides itself on presenting creative and engaging programs, regularly performing premieres, and interacting with a variety of composers, conductors, and soloists. The Truman Wind Symphony I has enjoyed performing on tours throughout the Midwest and at national and regional conferences, including nine performances at the Missouri Music Educators Association (MMEA) Conference.
Curran Prendergast is the Director of Bands and Assistant Professor of Music at Truman State University where he guides all aspects of the band and graduate instrumental conducting programs. A native of Iowa, Dr. Prendergast received his Bachelor of Arts in Music Education from Central College (IA). Afterwards, he taught in the public schools for seven years in Indiana and Minnesota. Dr. Prendergast holds a Master of Arts in Band Conducting from the University of Iowa and a Doctor of Musical Arts in Wind Conducting from the University of Georgia. Dr. Prendergast is a member of NAfME.
Miouri State University Symphony Orchetra Christopher Kelts, Conductor

The University Symphony Orchestra is a vibrant part of the Department of Music at Missouri State University. Along with the symphony orchestra, it includes the chamber orchestra, serving as an advanced ensemble and opera orchestra. The University Symphony is one of the department’s premier ensembles, spanning hundreds of years of musical history through repertoire. The orchestra is made up of students majoring in music, music minor degrees and non-majors. The University Symphony gives six performances each academic year that includes collaborations with the MSU choirs. Missouri State’s Symphony Orchestra is open to all students through audition.
Christopher Kelts is Director of Orchestral Studies at Missouri State University and is Music Director and co-founder of the Kinnor Philharmonic Orchestra. He has received the “Arts for Life” award, and served as guest conductor for the St. Louis Suburban Honors Orchestra and clinician in St. Louis School Districts. Kelts has served as guest clinician for the Hickman Mills Honors Orchestra and statewide middle and high schools. He has also served as an adjudicator for the American String Teacher’s Association. Dr. Kelts completed advanced conducting training at Illinois State University and University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory of Music and Dance.
