Oakville High School Women’s Chorale Michael Wegener, Chelsea Ayre, Conductors

Oakville High School Chorale was founded by choir members with a passion to sing women’s music at a high level. Chorale is an extracurricular choir at Oakville. The girls dedicate themselves to attending two rehearsals per week, in addition to their curricular choir responsibilities. This will be Chorale’s third performance at MMEA, having performed in 2010 and 2013.


Michael Wegener and Chelsea Ayres are in their third year directing at Oakville. Prior to teaching at Oakville, Michael taught for four years at Olive Branch High School in Mississippi. He has his undergraduate and master’s degrees in Music Education from the University of Mississippi. He was recently married to Lydia in June 2016. Chelsea taught at McCluer High School for two years before coming to Oakville. She attended Missouri Baptist University and received a degree in Music Education. She is married to David and is a proud mom to Sutton.


Lafayee High School Symphonic Orchetra Joseph Gutowski, Steve Paton, Conductors

The Symphonic Orchestra is the premier orchestra ensemble at Lafayette High School in Wildwood, Missouri. The orchestra has a long tradition of excellence including multiple performances at the ASTA National Orchestra Festival (2005 and 2011) and the Missouri Music Educators Association In- Service Workshop/Conference. In addition, the orchestra has performed throughout the St. Louis


region, Chicago, New York City (Carnegie Hall), Orlando, and made its international debut to a standing-room-only performance in Italy in 2013.


Joseph Gutowski and Steve Patton are directors of the Lafayette Symphonic Orchestra. Mr. Gutowski directs four ability-based ensembles totaling over 150 students. Mr. Patton is the primary director at Rockwood Valley Middle School in addition to Lafayette. Mr. Gutowski and Mr. Patton are both viola players and play for various ensembles throughout the St. Louis region. Mr. Gutowski is an accomplished tenor vocalist, singing in classical, theatre, and church settings. Mr. Gutowski received his BME from Hope College and MME from The Ohio State University. Mr. Patton received his BM in Viola Performance from UM-Columbia, BME from UM-Kansas City, and MME from UM-Columbia.
