The Gentry Middle School band program is a product of exceptional support for fine arts in the Columbia Public School District. Two full-time instrumental music specialists teach the program’s dynamic instructional model for grades 6, 7 and 8. Collaborative vertical teaming is from Rock Bridge High School band instructors. Grades 6 and 7 meet daily in similar or like instrument groupings. The 8th
-grade
band is a non-auditioned group of concert band musicians who strive daily for musical excellence in full group rehearsals.
In only its fourth-year of existence, the Gentry 8th grade band consistently receives ‘I’ ratings at concert band festivals across the state. Additional performance opportunities for 8th
-
grade band members include pep band, jazz band, and solo/ensemble festival. The 2016-17 Gentry Middle School 8th

the school’s twenty-two year history to perform at the MMEA convention. The band is under the direction of Amber Quest, assisted by Zachary Nenaber and Stephen Mathews.
