Newer Southern Delaware entertainment and dining options this year include Lefty’s Alley and Eats in Lewes, which opened recently to rave reviews. The venue offers 16 bowling lanes, a state- of-the-art arcade with dozens of games, a 4,000-square foot, two-story laser tag arena, four 20-by-12-foot big-screen TVs, and a 110-seat restaurant and bar that is managed by LaVida Hospitality, known for their popular eateries like Fork and Flask at Nage, Crooked Hammock, and Big Chill Surf Cantina.


Coming soon to the area is the Big Chill Beach Club, a family-friendly rooftop restaurant at Delaware Seashore State Park on the southeast side of Indian River Inlet. The 200-seat upper level “Umbrella Deck” will offer sweeping, 360-degree water views of the Atlantic Ocean, Indian River Bay and the Indian River Inlet and the kitchen will offer quali- ty, casual fare. This deck will feature a revolutionary “European Umbrella” designed to protect visitors from winds of up to 110mph. In addition to the casual, beach-themed menu, the venue will provide an Oyster Bar, the Umbrella area for socializing, and a family- inclusive game area.


An adjacent second structure, the new- construction Beach Club Event Tent, will provide a versatile, full-service, 4,000- square foot venue offering unparalleled water views for catered sit down dinners and weddings for up to 160 guests. It also will accommodate up to 200 people for cocktail parties and casual meetings. Future improvements will include a live stage at the mouth of the Indian River where it meets the Atlantic Ocean. Food and management will be provided by LaVida Hospitality.


In downtown Rehoboth Beach, the own- ers of the ever popular Henlopen City Oyster House will debut The Blue Hen, located in the Avenue Inn and Spa. This follows the completion of the inn’s three- year expansion and renovation project that added 28 rooms, updated existing rooms and the swimming pool area, and included the addition of a new steam room and sauna.


Also, Vineyard Wine Bar of Havre de Grace, MD, will open on downtown Rehoboth’s Wilmington Avenue; Mason’s Lobster Rolls of Annapolis, MD debuts on Rehoboth Avenue; and Axis, owned by the proprietors of the Blue Moon, will open on Baltimore Avenue. In addition,


the new Dogfish Head complex on Rehoboth Avenue, including Chesapeake and Maine and a refreshed Dogfish Head Brewings and Eats, will open soon, as well.


In downtown Lewes, The Pig and Publican (from the owners of Pig and Fish and Pickled Pig Pub) has opened within the Beacon Motel. Kaisy’s Delights will open its second location in Lewes, and Cabanas is a new Salvadoran eatery that is getting a lot of buzz on Coastal Highway.


SoDel Concepts will soon open a sec- ond Bluecoast - this one in Rehoboth Beach’s new Gateway Shopping Center. Rosenfeld’s Jewish Deli is preparing to open near the intersection of Routes 1 and 24, and next door Southern Delaware’s first Vietnamese restaurant, Minh’s Bistro, will open, as well. Surf Bagel has added a new location, too - Surf Bagel AM in Midway.


Salted Vines Vineyard and Winery, for- merly Fenwick Wine Cellars, has opened its new location in Frankford, just a few miles from Bethany Beach. The location offers a new larger winery, vineyard, tast- ing room and event venue.
