Some of the newest additions, however, have made a tremendous impact on this growing convention market.
For example, the city’s convention and meeting marketplace has been super- charged by addition of The Waterfront Conference Center at Harrah’s Atlantic City. This $250 million facility is the largest convention center/hotel com- plex from Baltimore to Boston and boasts two 50,000-square foot ball- rooms that can be divided into asmany as 29 individual sections that offer state- of-the-art technology in advancedmeet- ings space for up to 5,000 attendees.
The venue opened in September of 2015 and since has proven to be an absolute game changer forAtlantic City. Not only does Harrah’s offer this new conference center (plus another pre- existing 25,000-square feet of meeting space already on site), but also 2,590
hotel rooms that are directly accessible from the meeting space, making the Caesars Entertainment property a per- fect year-round destination where atten- dees can eat, sleep andmeet all in a sin- gle location.
Jim Wood, president and CEO of Meet AC, notes that the impact of the Waterfront Conference Center at Harrah's has been very positive. “We’ve been able to attract a lot of conventions that want to be self-contained. Rooms and meeting space all under one roof."
The venue already has been attracting very high-profile events such as MPI’s World Education Congress (WEC) and the annual TEAMS conference. Since playing host to these functions,Wood has observed a "significant spike in inquiries from planners interested in Atlantic City as a meeting destination."
The Waterfront Conference Center’s appeal extends beyond its ample size and guest room availability, however. The center’s Sea Isle Boardroom fea- tures floor-to-ceiling windows and a large video screen for presentations or branding opportunities. Just outside is themarina district with boat slips and a walking trail. Inside is a new fitness center and an Elizabeth Arden’s Red Door Spa. A variety of dining options on-site include everything fromupscale Italian cuisine at Martorano’s to culi- nary adventures the Viking Cooking School, where attendees learn cooking tips while preparing and then enjoying their own meal together as a team.
What’s more, the ongoing $30 million renovation of the resort’s BayviewTower is redesigning its 450 guest rooms with business travelers in mind. Each room will be technology-rich with high-speed Internet access and accessible charging
