RELEASED SASKATCHEWAN ALBUMS & EPS

ALEXIS NORMAND: self-titled Whether performing in English or French, Alexis can enchant with a sultry, soulful vocal delivery in one song, or take you to a warm, safe shelter from a raging prairie storm in the next. Her music is jazz-infused folk that brings these two disparate elements into balance. Normand has released her self-titled sophomore album through her newly signed label, Quebec’s les Disques de la Cordonnerie. Produced by Marc Pérusse (Serge Fiori, Luc De Larochellière), the album showcases 11 jazz- tinged folk songs that feature the chanteuse’s soft, warm voice. Recorded at: Le divan vert, Studios Planète, Studio Dan- durand and Studios Picollo, Montréal PQ. Produced by: Marc Pérusse. More: www.alexisnormand.com

SPENCER VAUGHN BAND: SVB Vaughn is an independent emerging artist with influences of jazz, power rock, blues and country crossover. He’s currently studying music at Edmonton’s MacEwan University, building on strong foundations of guitar playing, songwriting, and mu- sic recording. Here he met like-minded musicians and created the Spencer Vaughn Band - with Derek Weins on lead gui- tar, Joel Jeschke on drums, Ali Mirzaie playing bass and Jazz Nipp on piano. These hardworking players come together in a 10-song, polished and very groovy package. Recorded at: The Audio Department, Edmonton AB. Produced by: Terry Tran. More: www.spencervaughnband.com

ZACHARY LUCKY: Everywhere A Man Can Be Already hailed as a master storyteller by outlets ranging from No Depression to Exclaim!, Lucky’s new nine-song collec- tion is his most powerful statement to date, with his sonic palette given a wide range of new colours through contribu- tions from some notable Canadian indie rock names, led by producer and pedal steel virtuoso Aaron Goldstein. While the Saskatoon native’s acclaimed previous release, The Ballad Of Losing You, delved deeply into personal themes, the new al- bum finds Lucky looking outward, drawing from people and places he encountered while touring the world over the past several years. Recorded at: Candle Recording, Toronto ON. Produced by: Aaron Goldstein. More: www.zacharylucky.com

AVA WILD: Bare Wild’s debut EP is a cross-section of some of her best work to date. It displays her music’s raw and organic beauty. Recorded live off-the-floor, her audience is introduced to her panoramic abilities as an artist. Within her lyrics are original ideas about land, love and life, portrayed through an acoustic-pop, folk-root and jazz embellished genre. “I feel like a Queen when I am able to sing as loud as I want, whether anyone else hears or not. This project allowed me to explore self confidence. It feels like I am exposing a fragile truth about myself, but through doing so, I am also discovering a magical side.” Recorded at: Soul Sound Studios, Regina. Produced by: Orion Paradis and Ava Wild. More: www.avawildmusic.com

TMHM: Stage Names Regina four-piece The Man and His Machine combines punk, hardcore, thrash metal, and rock with gritty word-heavy vo- cals to produce a chaotic and dynamic sound. After releasing three studio EPs and two live EPs over their five-year exis- tence, the band was ready to lay down eight blistering all-new tracks for their first full-length record. To capture the chaos and aggression in studio, TMHM contacted Stu McKillop (Daggermouth, Youth Decay) for a four-day session at the ac- claimed Rain City Studios (Japandroids, The Pack A.D, Baptists, Misery Signals). Recorded at: Rain City Recorders, Vancou- ver BC. Produced by: Stuart McKillop and TMHM. More: www.facebook.com/themanandhismachine

FIRING AT THE SKY: self-titled Firing at the Sky taps into instinct, presence and experience to deliver a strong, hard-hitting, but reflective record that doesn’t let up through its 10 songs. A blend of catchy, thoughtful and head bobbing rock with a metal edge. Pounding beats, soulful harmonies and interesting guitar melodies that weave and intersect to tell a story. A range of experiences and emotions are captured such as challenging one’s own idea of right from wrong, responding to inner voices, and gen- erally finding the truth over the noise and coming out stronger for it. Recorded at: Red Door Recordings, Saskatoon and home studio. Produced by: Ryan Andersen, Kris Klyne and Brad Heck. More: www.firingatthesky.com

CREEK CITY: Chronicles From the perspective of decades of experience and the combined background of their former lives – a businessman, a farmer, a probation officer and a pastor, Creek City evokes the quintessential sensibility of folk/roots on their debut album, with harmonica, mandolin, acoustic, electric and resonator guitars. Co-piloted by singer/songwriters Dave Cyca and Mark Penner and rhythm section Michael Tetrault and Donovan Epp, there are tunes that explore the ragged edges of lost love, the tenderness of love found, the wanderlust that draws us away from the prairies, and the daily balancing acts that con- front us all. Recorded at: The South Hill Studio, Herbert. Produced by: Creek City. More: www.creekcity.ca
