CANADIAN SONGWRITING CHALLENGE

SaskMusic, in partnership with the Canadian Council of Music Industry Associations (CCMIA) and Bell Media, is accepting applications for this year’s songwriting event.

In this songwriting retreat (dates TBA) in Saskatoon, a mix of experi- enced and emerging songwriters will be selected and organized into groups to collaborate and then record demonstration songs.

Participants will receive some class instruction on co-writing etiquette, agreements, and songwriting technique, and have an opportunity to network and establish permanent collaborative partnerships.

Songwriters considered for this opportunity will be at an intermedi- ate to advanced level of songwriting (you have a catalogue of mate- rial, had material recorded, etc)., in any genre. Previous co-writing experience is not required. Participants from our 2015 and 2016 CSC are welcome to apply again. A jury of industry professionals will select participants based on level of songwriting experience and, if possible, to reflect a range of genres.

Lunches and registration will be free of charge. Accommodations and travel expenses will not be covered. The Canadian Songwriter Chal- lenge is a multi-year partnership between the Canadian Council of Music Industry Associations (CCMIA) and Bell Media. For more, visit www.saskmusic.org/workshops.
