wouldn’t know how to tackle. This is especially true of the newer nail technicians i.e. fitting a nail form for different shapes not just the standard salon shapes, how to fit nail forms to the bitten nail without getting product on the skin and the use of flash curing gel, and the correct times for manipulating the C-curve etc.

I was absolutely delighted to have nail technicians travel from all corners of Croatia as well as Bosnia and Slovenia – this supports what I am constantly preaching about; the need for education and self-development. These nail technicians travelled some serious mileage on their days off to see what the brand and myself had to offer.

When hosting a workshop it’s always best to start with the easier techniques, then build steadily to an advanced point to ensure that everyone in the crowd, who will definitely be at different technical levels, can keep up. The wonderful thing about Zagreb was the fact that no matter how high their standard or how new to nails the technicians were, they all embraced different techniques, everyone had a go, in addition to the more advanced techs helping the newer ones along the way. I love the fact that everyone helps each other and no one is scared to ask a question.

The day ran from 10am to 5:30pm which was a mammoth workshop to headline. However, the smiling faces of the technicians leaving the room closely followed by tons of Facebook requests made me feel like I had really achieved something – my reward was a T-bone steak and a large glass of very nice white wine… bliss!

For the educator training, it was more of a group meeting to discuss new tactics and ways of improving their already very impressive ways of teaching. In this room sat some really talented techs that have been in the industry for a long period of time and I have nothing but the greatest respect for these ladies after hearing their stories and seeing their work. It’s just a great situation when you have people that are passionate about the same things as you are and who enjoy brainstorming a way to progress further; that’s real positive mental attitude. Special thanks must also go to Nikolina, Cuccio’s Croatian distributor, who translated through both events.

So, on a less bumpy ride back to sunny Manchester I found myself staring contently out of the window some 32,000 ft. up, reflecting on a most brilliant year. I have literally gone the length and breadth of the globe in pursuit of nail polish, memorable techs, friends and glorious food.

Having found everything that I was looking for I can only imagine what my travelling year holds for me in 2016. I can’t wait to share the beginning of it with you in the next issue of Guild News.

Have a great month, until next time.
