Competitors are given 60 minutes to complete a set of nail enhancements using Permanent Polish, including nail shaping, prepping and application, with one hand finished in red crème and the other to a traditional French finish.

Freestyle Nail Art Challenge

Open to all competitors, you will have one and a half hours to complete one hand of encapsulated / embedded nail art using any system, with the choice of adding 3D artwork on the thumb and ring finger. Get creative with designs, nail shapes and colour options.

Top Tech Photographic Nail Art

Judges will be looking for the best ‘cover shot’ which encapsulates this year’s theme. Anything goes in this category, so you can be as creative as you like.

The theme for UK Nail Tech is Horoscopes and for Scotland is Ibiza.

In a change to previous years, all Photographic entries must be submitted by email – for deadlines please see the Competitors Packs online.

Top Tech Photographic Classic Nail

Judges will be looking for the best photograph that showcases nails that have been manicured completely natural or have natural / standard French nail extensions / overlays applied or have clear or plain coloured polish applied. This category is not for nail art but the theme must be clear from the photograph’s style and background.

As with the Nail Art category, Scottish nail techs must work to the theme ‘Ibiza’ whilst those entering UK Nail Tech should produce images reflecting ‘Horoscopes’.

In a change to previous years, all Photographic entries must be submitted by email – for deadlines please see the Competitors Packs online.

Top Tech Boxed Hand Painted Nail Art

Judges are looking for 10 decorated nails presented in a plain display box, over which the theme is demonstrated using only hand painted techniques, enabling you to showcase your polishing, freehand painting and one-stroke skills.

The theme for UK Nail Tech is Horoscopes and for Scotland is Ibiza.

How to enter

The competitions are open to all nail technicians, regardless of how long you have been working. You may enter as many categories as you wish, avoiding clashes in the timetable.

Visit the competition websites (detailed below) where you can download Competitor Packs which include full rules for each category. Registration is by phone calling 01332 227698 or by posting the application form, which can also be found at the websites.

Student Nail Tech

This year we are also running four separate categories for Students. As well as naming winners (1st, 2nd and 3rd place) in each Student category, the competition will reward the Student nail tech with the overall highest score, taking into account all points accumulated for 1st, 2nd and 3rd placements of competition including Student Tech Tip & Overlay Challenge, Student Tech Permanent Polish, Student Snap Shot Challenge and Student Boxed Nail Art.

Students should be entered by their college tutor, and must have been learning nails for less than two years. Lecturers can download more information from the competition websites.
