The Ottawa Electric Vehicle Council has a very official sounding name and, at first glance, you may simply glaze over it. That would be a mistake because, although it sounds like a government agency, it is in fact a car club for electric car owners. Since being founded in 1990, this amazing little gem of a club has been promoting vehicle conversions, hybrids and full electric cars as the wave of the future.

How did I stumble across them? In a conversation with a friend who started to tell me about the E-F1 Race Series and how these F1 race cars, powered by batter- ies, were attracting more and more atten- tion. That led to the predictable electric car
debate and finished with the mutual admira- tion of the TESLA car. So, do you own a VOLT, LEAF, SOUL,

This group is a growing, active, and enthusiastic bunch; dedicated to promoting and using electric vehicles as a viable trans- portation alternative. Presently, they have between 45 to 50 members who meet the last Monday of the month at 7:30 p.m. at the
