TRUE BREW continued from page 33

cans ... and I am sure we’ll do another crazy cask as the original Kahlua Candy Cane version was indeed a Christmas Miracle! Look for a launch party and this year’s version of the Gingerbread Christmas Ale to be available in early December! In between brews I decided to sample one of Big Rig’s fine offerings that is also available at the LCBO (5.6% ABV

473ml can $2.95). Big Rig’s Midnight Kissed My Cow Milk expertly

poured into a logo pint glass at the Iris Road Big Rig Kitchen & Brewery shows a deep burnt umber with one finger of frothy oatmeal hued head. Big aromas of cocoa, strong roast, mocha/ coffee, caramel and a whiff of smoke set the mood for waves of chocolate-y goodness. First tastes of dark chocolate are followed by roasted malts reminiscent of coffee then milk chocolate (chocolate milk?), cocoa, light caramel and hints of nuttiness, lactose sweetness, vanilla and licorice. The mouthfeel is medium and slightly sticky but doesn’t linger too long. I can see this delicious double milk chocolate stout replacing some non-liquid desserts ... or settling in nicely beside them (think cherry cheesecakes, biscotti, gingerbread cookies, brownies and more). Cheers!

1 What’s Been Happening 4

1. Was honoured to be a guest at the official Grand Opening of Oakwoods brand new showroom. Congrats John and Patricia Liptac on an unbelievably beautiful design centre. It was a also a pleasure to meet Mike Holmes and family.

2. It was a big crowd at the Sponsor Appreciation Day for the Motorcycle Ride for Dad. Its amazing to see how many people dedicate a lot of their time to make the MRFD a huge success every year.

3. Golf at Loch March in the afternoon. Then a Sens Leafs game that night. Dan Champagne (left) myself and Paul Patterson (right) watching the Sens beat the Leafs.

4. Just missed. My event trailer dodged a bullet when a tree came down with the first early snow. Luckily no damage done.

5. The deer hunt was slow this year but luckily Carter Corbin was able to bag an 8 pointer on our second last night. His first deer ever.
