country. But a benefit album for a radio station? That’s something different. The light went on for Valley Heritage
Radio in January of 2007 from their studios on Burnstown Road, just outside Renfrew. Now you can forget about your WKRP or big-city radio setups. VHR is strictly a DIY operation, with staff members donating their time to bring something unique to the Valley. They play everything from classic country to 50’s rock and roll, Celtic music and everything in between. There is a mandate to give air time to as many area musicians as possible, artists who are shut out by the bigger, corporate-owned stations in the Ottawa area. The station even provides access to these players to sell their CD’s.
