Hotel RL Baltimore opened in August 2015 in the Inner Harbor’s historic Keyser Building following a $19 million invest- ment and is Red Lion Hotels Corporation’s first hotel on the East Coast and the first Hotel RL branded property. Billed as an “upscale three-star” property, the 130-room hotel features TED Talks-style programming and, instead of a traditional restaurant, a large central bar serving food.
The Wyndham Baltimore Mt. Vernon Hotel has changed its name to Joie de Vivre and currently is closed for renova- tions with an expected reopening in early 2017.
The Baltimore Harbor Hotel has begun transitioning the north tower into the Radisson brand. The north tower has 323 rooms, and renovation will begin in early November. The owners and man- agement team are working with other hotel brands on the south tower to find the best fit with the goal for it to become a second hotel. The south tower will reopen in January 2017 with all 385 rooms renovated. A new restaurant chain is opening as early as October 2016.
The Royal Sonesta Harbor Court has unveiled a $10 million renovation to its hotel interior including public spaces and guest rooms. The hotel has an updated lobby with a new tinted glass chandelier and redesigned library and 12,000- square feet of renovated meeting space. The number of guest rooms increased from 195 to 203 (including 21 suites) and all guest rooms were updated.
The Inner Harbor’s Hyatt Regency Baltimore updated its lobby, swimming pool area, and added a fire pit in late November. In March 2016, the 488 guest rooms were refreshed and the hotel updated the pool bar.
Located at the head of Baltimore’s Inner Harbor, Renaissance Baltimore Harborplace Hotel recently invested $3.5 million to refresh its 31,000-square feet of meeting and event space, plus its harbor view restaurant, Watertable.
