“Lots of natural light comes into the building, and it offers an outdoor patio and balcony with stunning views,” said van der Molen. “All of these elements contribute to an environment that’s dynamic for learning.”

Unique Offerings

It can be a real bonus when there’s a bit of history, culture, fine arts or other intriguing aspect tied into a meeting facility. The Conference Center at the ChemicalHeritage Foundation (CHF) is definitely one such venue.

According to Lou Marrocco, the build- ing’s integrated museum and confer- ence center occupies the space that once was Philadelphia’s historic First National Bank building, which held the designation of being the first drive- through bank in 1865.

Today, the facility features the Museum at CHF, which is free and open to the public. Attendees can find out how plastics are made, where crayons get their colors, how the DNA code was cracked, or how to measure oxygen on Mars. They can unlock the mystery of chemistry, and it’s not just in the labora- tory - it’s all around.

CHF’s collection of historical objects, artworks, photographs and archives from chemistry’s origins through the 20th century are sure to capture guests’ attention and stoke their imaginations.

In addition, the Conference Center at CHF is located by Independence National Historic Park, so attendees

can stroll over to see the Liberty Bell, Independence Hall and the National Constitution Center. When it’s time for a rest from the activities, Philadelphia’s restaurant scene offers something for every palette and budget.

For those who choose to meet at The Laureates Conference Center, Franklin Institute offers attendees so much to do that it might be wise to visit for a few days prior or to stay for the weekend.

In the museum’s Fels Planetarium, guests can explore the night sky with astronomical presentations in a dome that measures 60-feet in diameter. The ultimate screen for cosmic exploration, it creates a sense of wonder and awe among attendees.

In the rotunda of the Franklin Institute is Benjamin Franklin National Memorial, the centerpiece of which is a 20-foot- high marble statue of Franklin himself that weighs 30-tons and sits on a 92-ton pedestal made of white marble.
