Te beautiful grounds of Upton Country Park are once again to play host to the 8th annual Poole Town & Country Show this summer over the weekend of August 6th and 7th, and the organisers hope to repeat the great turnout achieved in previous years. Tere will be something for everyone,
Te Great Dorset Chilli Festival 30th to 31st July
Described as “Te hottest day out in Dorset”, Te Great Dorset Chilli Festival takes place in Wimborne St Giles on the last weekend of July. St Giles Park will play host to a weekend
chilli fiesta, with plenty of stalls selling all things chilli, from pepper plants to cayenne condiments, chilli seeds, ceramics and more. Visitors will also be able to enjoy cookery demonstrations, with a focus on creating family suppers using chillies. Tese will sit alongside talks on growing chillies, artisan food producers, music and spicy street food, along with local ice creams to cool the mouth and local beers to slake the thirst. weekend will include fire breathing, falconry flying displays, face painting, bouncy castles and more. On Saturday, it will be time for the chilli
plant competition, with amateur growers welcome to enter their plants into one of two classes, with the winner receiving a £50 garden centre voucher. Tere will also
be a chilli pepper competition, with prizes awarded to visitors who have grown the best chillies in a range of different classes. Tose who can handle the heat can also choose to enter the weekend’s chilli eating competition. On Sunday, the judging of the regional

heat of the national chilli cook-off competition will take place. Teams have four hours to cook a gallon of either chilli con carne or vegetarian chilli from scratch, using their own mix of ingredients and spices. Te winner will go through to the national finals, with the chance to win a cash prize and a trip to Alabama. Te Great Dorset Chilli Festival is open

from 10am to 5pm on both days. Tere is free parking on site and dogs on leads are allowed. Tickets are priced at £8 for adults and £3 for children aged 11-15, while children aged 10 and under go free. A family ticket, covering two adults and three children, is priced at £19.
