G
ood food, good company and good fun is what Yeo Valley Family Farm is all about. It’s been over 50 years since the Mead family fi rst put down roots in the Yeo Valley in Somerset, and in
that time their farm has grown from a smallholding with just 30 cows into the UK’s number one organic dairy brand. Yeo Valley takes good living seriously, and they believe
that striking the perfect balance should be about making little changes to help you live a healthy and fulfi lling life – without being a chore. With summer time here, give or take the sunshine there is no better time to get outside with your friends and spend some time. Wellbeing means diff erent things to people, but to the team at Yeo Valley it’s about balancing good food, with good fun and enjoying the great outdoors. When it comes to good food, their motto is ‘great taste, the
right way’, which is why they’re committed to reducing refi ned sugars in their products, and promoting the natural goodness of organic dairy. Bio Live is a new adult range of yogurts that contain no
added refi ned sugar. T ese delicious yogurts contain live cultures and less than 10% total sugars per pack, meaning you can fuel your busy day with good, clean energy without compromising on taste. Having fun with friends can so easily be lost beneath our
busy schedules, but this is where Bio Live comes in. It’s packed with everything you need to feel tip-top and is an easy swap for a higher sugar snack to help to train your taste buds to enjoy a little bit less sweetness. Of course for those who chose to have not added sugar at all in their diet there is also Yeo Valley natural yogurt, a classic creamy treat, even better with the addition of some fresh summer fruits from the garden. Take the time to enjoy the summer time, and for low sugar breakfast that still feels like a treat try Yeo Valley’s added refi ned sugar granola recipe. NO ADDED REFINED SUGAR GRANOLA RECIPE LOVE YEO X
200g raw whole rolled oats 50g chopped raw nuts 50g seeds such as pumpkin, Linseed, sesame, sunfl ower, pumpkin 75g dried prunes 2 tbsp honey 30g coconut oil Pinch of salt
1 Preheat the oven to 170C / Gas 3.
2 The coconut oil might be liquid or solid depending on the temperature of the room.
If it’s solid, warm it up in a pan on a low temperature, or microwave for a few seconds to
melt it. Then use your hands to combine all the ingredients in a large mixing bowl.
3 The mixture will be a bit sticky. Be sure to mix the oil well through the other ingredients, so there aren’t any chunks of oil in the mixture.
4 Spread the mixture in a thin layer on a baking tray lined with greaseproof paper and bake for 10- 15 minutes, until very lightly toasted.
5 You can make this recipe completely raw by placing in a dehydrator or a low oven for 5-6 hours at 45C. (The raw version of this recipes doesn’t last as long as if it were baked.)
6 Add any other types of dried fruit, nuts or seeds that you like, then top with your favourite Yeo Bio Live Yogurt for a delicious snack or breakfast. A crunchy, creamy treat with no added refi ned sugar, and easy-peasy to make too.
7 Remember to cool before serving or storing. This granola can be kept in an airtight container in a cool, dry place for up to 2 weeks, so it’s perfect for a batch cook to have ready for those days when time is of the essence.
