After fun and laughter at the Opening AND SO

First, let’s introduce the competitors and the rules. Each national team consisted of a captain and two competitors between 14 and 18 years of age. The captain or, coach could only help with advice, encouragement and experience, but they couldn’t assist with any fishing, or rod action. The rules were simple. Each team could use

no more than four rods and one spod rod. They could use boilies, pop-ups, pellets, method-mix, etc. They could fish only by casting from the bank. The winner was a team with the highest average weight of the three heaviest carp. There were 12 countries taking part and two

bonus teams which were The WCC Family team and the team of the supported hospital FN Motol. There were also many other activities for

angling and non-angling public, filling the programme for the tournament. There was, for example, an angling school, an Indian village, a film tent of Czech TV channel, etc. There were really a lot of options of what to do. Among the highlights of the entire programme were concerts by Petr Koláą and Miro Žbirka which took place on Saturday evening.

WCCJ Opening Ceremony and Swim Draw

All through the day before the opening ceremony, young competitors and their adult companions were arriving. The company Mivardi became the global

partner of the entire tournament and they started to build a bivouac camp on Monday morning. They took care not only of bivouacs, but they also delivered all the equipment necessary for the tournament, such as camp beds, sleeping bags, rods, reels, etc. Those who wanted, could use their own equipment, but those who wanted to save the hassle of transporting all their baggage to the venue certainly appreciated the help. The USA team especially who would have the transport of entire equipment for carp fishing would have been a real (not only logistical) problem. Despite the weather, which wasn’t ideal, there was good mood prevailing at the Lake Katlov venue. During the morning all teams were exploring

That’s entertainement! Kutna Hora took on the WCCJ and created a fabulous show through its historic streets

the banks, which became their new home and also their arena for next few days. The lake with its lush weed meant this wasn’t going to be an easy battle and that every single fish would mean highly valued points. The stocked carp have been doing very well in the Lake Katlov after their move to this location. So this meant there was another difficult task to complete, to encourage them to

feed on boilies and other goodies. The bottom and the water of Lake Katlov provide an incredible amount of natural food. You can see a lot of plankton practically everywhere and thanks to its natural filtration, the water in the lake is amazingly clear. Inside the bottom mud and lake bed you can find big leeches, tubifex worms and bloodworm. Around lunchtime, the entire staff including

management, referees and others moved into a bus and several other accompanying vehicles. Their
