2015 TEAM EVENT HANS SISSINGH: CARP CONNECTIONS ONNECTION The World Carp Classic

Team Event adds an extra dimension and an exciting

element for competitors and companies taking part

The oldest and certainly the most exciting side event, the “Team Event” is, as it always has been, sponsored by Carp Connections in 2015. The WCC-team competition

was originally organized for three pairs (six anglers) right from its inception. Not surprisingly, because it was inspired by the ‘International

pairs of golf’ organized by Ross Honey, this format was introduced to the world of carp angling as a brand new anglers endurance for pairs. But angling for carp is not like playing a round of golf.

Once one of the anglers goes out in the boat, the other has to stay behind to guard the rods. The angler in the boat could ideally use assistance to row the boat, however. So, soon after that problem was highlighted, Ross decided to allow a so-called “team runner”. Now the angler in the boat had assistance whilst the other angler remained on shore with the remaining rods and, as from that time, a team now contained nine anglers. How frustrating it was, though, for the “Runners” -

who were mostly carp anglers themselves - to assist but not take part in the actual fishing! Therefore, another decision was made; to include

an optional third angler, which not only resolved the difficulties in attracting the old style ‘team runner’ but also added other great opportunities for all competitors, even financially! Plus, why not still allow a helper who can assist the three anglers with other non-angling duties and allow the anglers to concentrate on what they need to do. So, now a team has consisted of up to nine anglers, and twelve including helpers! For the 1st, 2nd and 3rd placed winners the prize is a

fantastic holiday at the Fishing Resort Du Der. The Resort Du Der is a 100 acre complex of four lakes, of which three are designed for carp angling. With 400 fish from 20 to over 60 lbs per lake, this prize is good reason to celebrate. As an example, Lizette and Bianca, the 2013 overall

winners and members of the Dynamite team, fished midweek and broke their own record on total weight. Their first run was not just one run, but three! They lost one of those three and landed the other two that were stunning fish, a forty and a fifty – and all of that incredible action came within the very first hour! Although the number of anglers per team has grown,

Carp Connections insisted that all members of the winning teams should win a Holiday. Whereas in 2001 there were no less than 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes, and meant that 18 Holidays were sponsored, now, in 2015 the Dutch tour operator will present 36 holidays to winning contestants for the incredible Northern France venue. Make sure you subscribe to a team. Even if the three

pairs/trios have different sponsors, they can form a Team, name it and compete for a great prize table with a fishing holiday at a great resort with its lovely fish! You will find all Carp Connections sponsor contact
