Going Out - Page 46 HELP MMM stall volunteers

from sweltering to shivering Even though the early mornings have now turned

very cold our band of volunteers still turn out every

Sunday morning at the Auto Cine Car Boot Sale to raise funds for good causes in the Murcia region. This intrepid bunch work all year round selling donated goods, sweltering and sweating in the Summer to shivering and freezing in the Winter but always with a smile on their faces. Thank You We would like to take the opportunity to thank everyone who donates items for sale as this enables Help Murcia Mar Menor to donate funds to the poor and needy in our region. Without you we would not be able to carry on this work. A quote from one of the volunteers sums up their attitude “It’s hard work, and turning out on these cold mornings is not easy. But the work is very satisfying. We always have great fun and a hot cup of coffee with a drop of spirit in it makes all the difference”. We look forward to seeing you at our stall on a Sunday morning, there are always plenty of items to purchase and every cent helps the good causes. Happy New Year! Do you have bric a brac, furniture, household items and clothes that you don’t use and want to get rid of? We can arrange to collect them or you can bring items to our office at Calle Penélope 11, Los Narejos, (behind the Deutsche Bank), telephone 968 570 059. Alternatively you can bring them to our car boot stall, which is at the Autocine, Los Narejos on Sunday mornings from 9am until 1pm. We will be very grateful for any items donated as this is our main source of income to enable us to carry out our good work. Christmas gift for children of Emaús The children of Emaús received special Christmas present in the shape of

800€ donated by Calpe’s Rotary Fellowship Luncheon Club.

President Brian Reynolds presented that donation to a delighted representative of Emaús Sra. Nyla Gill, at the Club’s final meeting before the Christmas break. The Club welcomes anyone who has been involved in Service Clubs internationally as well as Rotarians past and present. The next regular meeting is on the 14th January at the Asia Restaurant, Moraira

road, Fustera at 1pm for 1.30pm. See more details on the Club’s website: www.calperotary.org.uk.

Friendship lunch raises 500 Euros [

The lunch was attended by 70 members of the HELP Murcia Mar Menor Friendship Club and included the grand Christmas draw, which raised 505€ (approx) for the charity. There were special prizes presented by Doreen to anyone who had a birthday

or a wedding anniversary during the year that ended in a date with a 0 or 5. The lunch was held at the Caravan Club, San Javier, where Tony and his staff provided everyone with a great Christmas meal and all the trimmings, many thanks to them for their continued support during 2014. Ron provided the music and every one joined in the carols and Christmas songs lead by Elaine Dale. Meals-on-Wheels. The hard work put in by Doreen Sykes and Joan Mitchell was appreciated by all who attended and there was even a Meals-on-Wheels service for two members, who were unable to attend the event through ill health. It ended the year on a good note!

Jingles with a tingle from Crescendo International Choir

Crescendo’s Christmas concert at El Paraiso on Sunday 7th December certainly put a “tingle in our fingers and a tingle in our toes” to paraphrase words from the rendition of the ‘The Rhythm of Life’.

The winter sun shone on the ladies red sparkling jackets adding yet more tingles to the jingles. Most songs contained a message of hope, joy or peace – the best of Christmas gifts. Twelve songs were interspersed with a duet, two solos and the audience joining in the Christmas carols. Lesley Rolls entered after the interval, wearing her pyjamas and pink bows in her hair searching for “two front teeth” and wondering why “Mummy was seen kissing Santa Claus”, which created a sense of the fun element of Christmas. This year the choir has supported Caritas charity in various local towns. The whole choir wish all their friends and supporters a Healthy New Year. More information at crescendo-choir.com.
