Happy New Year and welcome to the Stage Diary, a column that since it was first launched in 2007, has become a major central point of reference to amdram on the Costa Blanca. Not only does it act as a guide to what’s on in all the regions, but is also an important on-line introduction to potential expat’s researching community life in Spain. It also acts as a planning guide to assist groups avoid unnecessary clashes of production dates.
Calpe Gilbert and Sullivan Society: Rehearsals are in progress for two concert performances of The Gondoliers at La Senieta, Moraira on 26th March and Salo Blau, Casa de Cultura, Calpe on 27th March. Campoverde Theatre Group: Back by popular demand is the new version of Cafe Rene, Allo, Allo, It’s Christmas. This supper show will be performed at the Lo Monte Hotel, near Pilar on Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th January. Tickets available from Colin on 966 774 127.
Cantabile Female Voice Choir: The choir will be performing the female version of Gabriel Fauré’s exquisite Requiem in spring 2015. A friendly, sociable

Careline Theatre: Alice in Wonderland, adapted by Robert Marlowe from the original book by Lewis Carroll and directed by Candida Wright will be staged at their theatre in Alcalali from 15th to 18th January. Costa Barber Singers: Rehearsals have begun for the new season for the CB Singers at their regular haunt, The Top 10 Tapes Bar in Benissa, every Thursday at 8pm. New singers are welcome to join the group for a drink, chat listen and sing anytime. Further details are available on their website

Footlights Theatre Group: The group have now fully cast and have begun preliminary rehearsals for the comedy Stepping Out, scheduled
to be staged this April. Their November 2015 show will be the Broadway musical Annie. Footlights are also keen to recruit additional performers to join their ranks. They meet on Thursday evenings in Calpe; contact the Secretary on 965 870 198.
GASP Theatre Group: The group, who recently made a donation to Santa Pola Cruz Roja, are currently in rehearsals for their next production. Watch this space for more details. Jávea Players: Luke Kemper plays the Javea Players Studio Theatre in his one man, hugely acclaimed show The Only Way is Downton, from Monday 12th January to Friday 16th. As celebrities start appearing at the Abbey, cultures clash and eras hilariously collide in this brilliant parody which was a sell-out at

Melody Makers International: This choir under the conductorship of Nigel Hopkins is now into full rehearsals for their next concert, Music of the Night.
