its breath-taking views across the water. The trail is suitable for wheelchairs, pushchairs and cyclists making it an easy and enjoyable walk for all. The 3.5 mile walk from Pow Hill


Country Park to Millshield picnic site can be split into shorter sections from the visitor centre to Pow Hill Country Park just 2 miles, and in north of the visitor centre to Millshield picnic site just 1.75 miles. If you fancy something a little bit more energetic why not try out the Derwent Reservoir Sailing Club? There are many water sports offered on the 3.5 mile long open water from windsurfing to sailing, which cater to experienced competitors and complete novices. The club house, situated on the north shore of the reservoir, is equipped with everything you need from showers, changing rooms and slip ways to a club


room, bar, indoor workshop and rooftop patio. With a social side to sailing too Derwent Reservoir Sailing Club attracts members of all abilities from all walks of life from young to old. Although that’s not the only sport


available at Derwent Reservoir. If you’d prefer to keep the pace sedate why not come and try your hand at fishing in the reservoir? A change of scenery to fishing the banks of the River Wear at your park, Derwent Reservoir provides anglers with the opportunity to catch 20lb specimen trout. Throughout the season a number of fish are tagged, and the lucky people who catch them receive a special prize. The on- site shop stocks fishing rods, reels, tackle and accessories – everything you could possibly need for a day of fishing – as well as refreshments and ice cream. With fishing, water sports and walks all interspersed with picnic and play areas Derwent Reservoir is the perfect day out for the family, and offers the chance to leisurely take in the beautiful scenery of County Durham.
