Morpeth Northumbrian Gathering 25th – 27th April These three days will be bursting with presentations of Northumberland’s traditions incorporating concerts, street events, dancers, exhibitions, crafts, dialect, workshops and much, much more. There will even be specific children’s events and entertainment including puppets and a storyteller’s garden.

Riding of the bounds 1st May The annual Riding of the Bounds takes place on the 1st of May in Berwick. Originating from English riders protecting borders from the Scottish the ride is open to all horse riding enthusiasts that are confident in walk, trot and canter with large groups in open spaces.

10th May The Durham Choral Society will be preforming in the stunning Durham Cathedral for this concert. With around 150 members the choir has a full orchestral accompaniment as well as professional soloist. Their repertoire is varied covering both traditional and modern choral music. Definitely a show not to be missed.

Amble Puffin Festival 26th May onwards Amble Puffin Festival celebrates everything Puffin! A week of fun and activities takes place to see the Coquet Island Puffins as they care for their newly hatched pufflings. The festival includes: guided walks, bird watching, local history talks, photo exhibitions, arts and crafts, watersports and live music. Events will be held in a variety of locations throughout the town.


Coquet Island is famous for being home to the UK’s sole colony of Roseate Terns as well as providing a safe haven for a variaty of sea birds and Grey Seals.
