ohn and Chris Dowell tell us about Fishergate Postern Tower in York, which is now open to the public and visitors of York.


The medieval tower was built back in


1505 to keep any marauding Scots at bay. Unfortunately it’s no longer up to date with many modcons, as the garderobe (medieval toilet) cannot be used as the river no longer laps the Tower, meaning it would discharge its lovely contents onto the heads of passers-by! e are always astounded by the amazing things our owners get up to while not on park - we


seem to have a whole host of adventurers here at Chantry and Derek is just one of them.


Derek has recently returned from


Peru, and the Everest base camp from his second expedition to Everest. As you can see from the photos it must have been a truly amazing adventure full of breath- taking moments and spectacular sights. We have such
