Makro to label Mineral Water revamp

When iconic brands have been around for some time, the marketing teams like to freshen up the pack design sometimes by changing the bottle shape and colours or simply redesigning the label and in this case changing the label format from paper to self adhesive for both the glass and PET variants in their still and sparkling formats.

One of the UK’s leading brands has just placed an order with Makro Labelling for a two station self adhesive labelling machine. Richard Portman, Managing Director of Makro Labelling UK said about this latest order, “The Brand is one of the premier Natural Mineral Waters produced in the UK, we are delighted to have been entrusted with this order. We will be labelling seven different bottles, 330cl, 500cl and 750cl both glass and PET and also the 1 litre PET bottle. The new machine will apply a single label, which is about a 70% wraparound at a speed of 21,000 b.p.h. This two-station machine has been chosen so that the label stations are running in tandem continuously and will be installed prior to the rinser filler block. The machine is due for installation in November, which will be in good time for the peak Christmas and New Year festivities in the hotel and restaurant markets.“

Richard continued, “This latest order for Makro UK means that we will now be labelling products in all the main sectors of the UK beverage market, wines, spirits, soft drinks, mineral water, beer and cider, in both glass and PET, which very much mirrors the success that Makro has enjoyed across the globe in these sectors.”

that are said to protect the in- tegrity of goods and offer pro- longed shelf life. The Yorkshire based company now supplies a range of flow- wrapping equipment ideal for essential bakery products, such as

sandwiches, bread,

cakes, biscuits, snacks and even breakfast cereals, to lease, rent or purchase.

Many food companies re- quire packaging systems that can safely wrap a whole range of different shaped products in any configuration. With a choice of options such as labellers, date and time coders, collators and conveyors, Tisomi can pro- vide fully integrated or bespoke flow-wrapping

solutions using

any heat sealable or cold-seal material. For smaller bakeries, Tisomi’s

rolls,

compact, entry-level model AZ 50, with an emphasis on reliabili- ty, simple operation, hygiene and easy maintenance, is suitable for a wide range of individual, multi- packed, or trayed products. On the next level is the best-selling AZ 60 which combines three in- dependent motors, Intel based computer control, rugged heavy duty construction, high efficien- cy features and zero mainte- nance drive system. Md Peter Miller, said: “We have worked hard to satisfy numerous producers from small sandwich companies to multi-nationals. In addition to standard machines we also offer bespoke bakery packing solutions.”

Many forms of wrapping

“IF you’re looking to wrap items in the most productive, efficient and cost-effective way then we probably have the largest number of different solutions available from the companies that form our Packaging Division”. So says a recent press release from Hertfordshire-based packaging equipment specialist Friedheim International. The company’s line-up of equipment providers includes Beck Packautomaten, Buhrs and Pfankuch Maschinen. Beck’s range of high performance models covers film wrapping, shrink wrapping, sleeve wrapping, flow wrapping and 4-side sealing. It also offers form shoulder wrapping that can encompass 3-side sealing or an overlapping working method, in addition to a custom design and manufacturing service. Buhrs is said to be world renowned for its range of poly wrapping and paper wrapping systems for a multitude of operations (with media and presentation activities a

particular emphasis). These systems range from an entry- level model for shorter runs (1000/1000 Solo) right up to larger versions (5000) for more demanding and longer job runs. Pfankuch Maschinen offers collating and wrapping systems which can produce in excess of 300 packs per minute, while still maintaining outstanding quality. This is apparently a figure that can be improved still further with the addition of a range of different horizontal or vertical feeder heads. All system functions are computer controlled to ensure reliable production and the lowest possible downtimes. Schib Packaging provides horizontal flow wrapping that can handle products across many industrial sectors. Coming at things from a different angle to the ‘systems’ approach, Audion Elektro concentrates on providing smaller stand-alone units that only occupy a limited floor area, but are still highly useful and productive machines.
