centralised pneumatic spinning roller pressure system was fi t- ted to give consistent pressures across all heads. The pressures can be easily changed to suit dif- ferent needs for different bottle formats and in fact are automati- cally selected when changing products. The spinning rollers only actuate when descending down and then open prior to the heads being raised. This ensures that the capsule is not damaged during this phase and that only the correct amount of spinning takes place.
This technology was particular- ly attractive for this project, says Evolution BPS, as it was capable of delivering an improved fi nish to the fi nal product, a feature of
particular importance to the cus- tomer’s range of premium brands where visual perfection is almost as important as product integrity. With production speeds of up to 9,600bph these machines will be capsuling some of the worlds most prestigious whisky brands. According to Evolution BPS, these machines can accom- modate a variety of bottle sizes ranging from 200ml to 1litre. The capsules involved vary in size and include both tin and polyl- aminate. Working together since 2005, Evolution BPS is the exclusive representative of Robino & Ga- landrino in the UK and Ireland.
