Nikwax installs second Bossar stand-up pouch Machine

Nikwax, the international leader in the manufacture of waterproofi ng products based in Wadhurst East Sussex UK, has installed a second horizontal form fi ll and seal machine to pack its liquid waterproofi ng and washing formulations, from Bossar Packaging SA of Barcelona, Spain. This investment reinforces Nikwax’s confi dence in the Bossar Brand with the new machine having several new features to assist Nikwax to improve productivity and the quality of the product produced. Nikwax’s Operations Director, Mick Parmar, says “The Nikwax products can be challenging to pack due to the specifi c components in our liquid formulations. This combined with a wide range of viscosities can make our packs diffi cult to fi ll and to achieve robust liquid seals that will not leak”

As well as the newly designed liquid fi lling system, Bossar have supplied Nikwax an Ultrasonic sealing system on the pouch machine to ensure hermetic leak proof seals are obtained consistently on every pouch produced. The Ultrasonic sealing system was seen as a vital element of giving Nikwax the confi dence to know that extremely low reject levels and consequently wasted product were reduced to an absolute minimum.

NATUREFLEX™’S BREATHABILITY ENHANCES SAFETY

A US company has developed a ground breaking fabric that offers high level chemical protection, using NatureFlex™ from Innovia Films within its construction.

For thirty years Kappler® based in Alabama has

defi ned the protective garment industry with patented fabrics, innovative seaming technology and unique garment designs. Their latest product Lantex™ 300, a National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 1994 Class 3 certifi ed Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) breathable protective suit, allows users in a hazardous chemical emergency situation to wear them for longer.

NatureFlex™ fi lm’s inherent properties make them an ideal choice for this application. They are naturally permeable, allowing loss of moisture from within the suit as well as bi-directional gas transfer. At the same time, the barrier to micro-bacterial contamination from outside the suit is maintained. NatureFlex™’s natural permeability can be controlled and tailored to the moisture barrier needs of the application or product by using a wide range of special coatings applied during production.

Kappler’s improved fabric Lantex™ 300 uses NatureFlex™ from Innovia Films to enhance breathability.
