ILSA Chapter Happenings

mentalism/. We received an ILSA Chapter Grant for this event. We will be writing up a summary of the event and submitting the summary after the event occurs.

November 14, 2013 from 7 pm: We will be hold- ing a mixer at a local business for students to come out and meet Professor Meyer (he teaches International Trade, International Business Trans- actions, and a few other courses at UGA). This will allow students to learn more about classes he will be teaching next semester since point al- location for classes next semester has officially started.

For the spring semester 2014, Professor Maria Gimenez (in charge of UGA’s Global Internship Program) will be running the Transnational Law Program. It’s an opportunity for students from another country (in this case, Brazil) to come over for a short one to two-week program. Pro- fessor Gimenez would like GSICL to host a din- ner event for them to mingle with our members. The school will pay for the room, dinner, and soft drinks. We are still working on the date and loca- tion of this mixer.

Next semester, we are hoping to host another immigration reform event. Attorney Charles Kuck was such a powerful speaker that we hope to get another speaker like him to discuss the topic further. We are hoping to have an attorney from

Amnesty International participate in this event. We are working on a date for this event and the specific speaker we’re looking for from Amnes- ty International. This may count as part of our “Brown Bag Series.” Another event of the GSICL “Brown Bag Series” will be an event on the is- sue of drones. Professor Harlan Cohen will be our speaker for this event. The date will be de- termined once we know his schedule for next semester.

There is a possibility that we will be able to host an event with Judge Bakhtiyar Tuzmukhamedov (a Russian Judge for the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda) immediately before or after the ASIL conference in DC from April 7 - 12. ILSA Student President Kaitlin Ball is helping us with this event. We will provide more details on this as the event develops.

We are currently working on an event with the American Constitution Society about Snowden and Cybercrimes. It is tentatively scheduled for Friday, Jan. 31. The speakers will be Margot Kaminski from Yale and UGA professors Mulligan and Cohen

The board members of GSICL are very active and constantly on the lookout for new event op- portunities. This list of events and activities will expand over the year.
