ILSA Chapter Happenings

in university level at the Pan-European University. It took place as a first simulated model confer- ence in university level on 3rd-5th October 2013 in Slovakia. The participants – delegates of differ- ent states – came to the session in General As- sembly, Security Commission for Disarmament, Human Rights Council, and Security Council. The topic discussed was the current conflict in Syria. The participants realized that the world is looking for the people which are able to do something and not those who know to explain why they have not done it.

The Chapter supports the Jessup Competition and also other moot courts in the arbitral field, such as the Foreign Direct Investment Interna- tional Moot Competition (FDI Moot) and Frankfurt Investment Arbitration Moot Court (FIAC Invest- ment Moot).

As the ILSA Chapter PEU has a close friendship with the ILSA Chapter Olomouc in Czech Repub- lic, its members are going to join in the Chapters´ mutual meeting planned for the beginning of the

autumn by the Chapter at Palacky University of Olomouc.

Despite the short period of activity of the Chapter, its Board strongly believes that international law topics and activities will attract more and more students to be active within the Chapter.

GONZAGA ILS

Gonzaga University School of Law Spokane, Washington USA

Cara Lorenzo, Co-President

The Gonzaga Law School ILS has been busy this semester! Under the supervision of faculty ad- viser Dr. Upendra Acharya we have been working hard to increase the interest and knowledge of international law in Spokane by educating both students and the public through the Gonzaga International Law Society club. The International Law Society Board is all new this year and one important goal of Gonzaga ILS is to increase awareness by partnering with other law school clubs to form mutually beneficial relationships. The Gonzaga ILS Board consists of Co-Presidents Anna Timberlake and Cara Lorenzo, Vice Presi- dent Jennifer LaCoste, Secretary Tim Brandle, and Treasurer Jase Mesker. The Gonzaga ILSA Chapter also sponsors a Jessup Cup Moot Court Team. Jessup Cup Team members Cara Lorenzo, Sylvia Irimescu, David Cluckey, and Holly Timmer- man have been working diligently on this year’s Compromis and hope to go far in both the written and oral competitions!

Gonzaga ILS continues to hold meetings every other Thursday evening at a local bar and restau- rant to discuss current events in international law. At these meetings one person presents their re- search in an area of international law to the at- tendees and then everyone participates in a dis- cussion to better understand the issue. This year
