Building on MSU Law’s nationally recognized Intellectual Property, Information & Com- munications Law (IPIC) Program, the Summer Institute examines intellectual property from an international perspective. The Institute will be held in Rijeka, a port on the Adriatic near Italy and Slovenia, and Dubrovnik, a UNESCO World Heritage site.


A 4-week, 5-credit, ABA-approved program, taught by leaders in the field, that provides a broad introduction to international business transactions, followed by a focused examina- tion of the law governing international sales of goods and international commercial arbitration. The program also highlights a number of key legal instruments arising out of the work of UNCITRAL.

The program focus of Comparative Competition Law, Business Law and Global Employment Law while immersing students in the host country’s culture. Students also visit law the local court system as well as a prestigious local law firm.


Charles University, founded in 1348, is Europe’s fifth oldest university and the site of the program. The law school is located on the bank of the Vltava (Moldau) River, a five-minute walk from Prague’s spectacular Old Town Square. Virtually untouched by World War II, Prague is one of Europe’s most beautiful cities. Czech Faculty teach 3 of the 4 courses.
