Kuwait’s International Law Society, the local chapter for ILSA, was founded last year in Ku- wait University’s School of Law; making it an academic and professional law chapter in Kuwait. Maintaining their excellent academic standard in nine subjects that year did not stand in the way of the highly motivated law students of Kuwait University. In founding the Society, each and ev- ery student had a different idea; nonetheless, what all these students shared was a vision. Their main objective for establishing the society was to educate students interested in international law. Bringing enlightened ideas to the Kuwaiti culture, these students were motivated to communicate with various international organizations and other law students and scholars around the world to promote understanding of international law and to contribute to the advancement of legal educa- tion.


The members wanted to provide themselves, as well as other law students, in Kuwait University the opportunity learn about other cultures and legal systems around the world. They agreed on organizing activities and projects that enhance global thinking and achieve professional skills with high efficiency. Most importantly, the stu- dents strived to achieve these objectives to the highest standards of quality and degrees of per-


Starting strong, the society’s first activity was par- ticipating in the national and international Philip C. Jessup Moot Court Competition. Shortly after, being the legally driven people they are, the soci- ety’s founding members all agreed on establish- ing a charter to organize the Society in which it would incorporate the goals, vision, committees, and standards for its’ members. Shortly after, the motivated law students have but together “Ku- wait’s International Law Society Charter”.


With the feeling of accomplishment and success, the members of the society were inspired to do more, and they accomplished just that during the summer. Members of Kuwait’s International Law Society that summer engaged in a wide variety of activities. They started the summer by working side by side with the law professors at Kuwait University, particularly the International Law de- partment. They worked as teacher assistants and
