Encouraging and enabling staff to take more personal responsibility to protect and improve their own health is high on the government agenda and has strong links to the findings published in the Francis Report.
Course outline: 2 day programme including one-to-one coaching. Neuro-linguistic programming, nutrition, and fitness tools and techniques will be used to link physical, emotional and psychological health.
The content will be delivered through a range of methods: individual and group exercises, theory/factual information delivery, and practical sessions.
This course will: • Explain how the mind and body are fundamentally linked
• Generate a greater awareness of your mindset and its impact on your physiology and hence your health and wellbeing
• Equip you with a suite of tools to handle pressure and stress, commonly affecting NHS staff (Boorman Report)
• Explain how eating a simple healthy diet and exercising 20 minutes a day can increase your energy and improve your life immeasurably
• Create confidence and ownership of your own health and wellbeing, and empower you to lead a life less impacted by circumstance
Who should attend?
• All leaders and managers with a responsibility for staff and their wellbeing
• Anyone facing demanding circumstances personally or professionally
• Anyone with a desire to understand the connection between the mind and the body in order to improve and maintain their physical and psychological health and wellbeing
• Individuals with a diagnosed health condition affecting their life and work
• Individuals with a family member with a diagnosed health condition impacting their life and work
Between the first and second day of the programme, each participant will receive a one-to-one telephone or Skype coaching session to help facilitate personal and professional learning taken from the first day of the course, and to ensure that their individual needs are met and progress is maintained.
Day 1
• Establish the meaning of health and wellbeing for individuals to ensure everyone’s needs are met
• How your mind works – an instruction manual • Self-talk and the impact on our physiological health • Values and perceptions
• Physiology of health/stress – fight vs flight response and impact on immune system
• Optimising nutrition for the mind and body
• How a small amount of exercise can have a huge impact on your wellbeing, no gym required
Day 2 • Progress update and sharing experiences • Planning and enabling the future • Breaking down the steps
• Roadblocks – what to do if difficulties arise on return to work and life

Confidence to control emotional and physical state in a calm and relaxed manner and hence ease personal stress levels
