unday, June 2 is exactly 60 years since the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II. Chepstow

Town Council is marking the event with the second Hit Parade Picnic. The event will have a 50s and

60s theme – celebrating the first two decades of Her Majesty’s reign through their pop music. Performers are invited to join in

the entertainment by singing hits of their choice to backing tracks. Last year’s Diamond Discs - 60

years of hit music festival was a great success even though it had to be transferred to the Drill Hall because of the unseasonable weather. Anyone wishing to perform in

this great community entertainment should e-mail

ray-taylor@talk-talk.net June 2 is also national Big

Lunch day where communities are encouraged to eat together alfresco. On the Riverside Terrace,

Chepstow Town Council will provide trestle tables, chairs and pop- up shelters. Everyone is welcome to bring a

picnic and delicious cooked food will be available from local hostelries and the Cotswold Pizza Company. Charities and societies are invited

to set up stalls (potential stallholders can call Chepstow Town Council on 01291 626370) and the Chepstow Festival games – including the perennial favourite “Roll-a-Rock” – will make a guest appearance.

This Way For Fish Week

A new angle on the Pembrokeshire Fish Week Festival will be launched this summer. For the first time visitors will be able to celebrate all things fishy with

a guided walk around some of the county’s most spectacular scenery. The Pembrokeshire Coast Path guided walking holiday kicks off at

Milford Haven on June 21 and ends up in Whitesands on June 28. On the way walkers will be able to dine on Fish Week specials and

take part in festival activities as they take in the stunning scenery along the coastal path. “This is a first for us and we hope that it will enhance visitors’

Fish Week Festival experience,” said Kate Morgan, organiser and food development manager at Pembrokeshire County Council. “Fish Week is a great way to see the coast as so many of our events

from dining out to crabbing take place along the shoreline. “As much as Fish Week is about celebrating fresh local fish and

our fishing heritage, it’s also about celebrating this iconic coastline and whether walking or simply eating at a coastal location, visitors can do it in style.” The five-day walking holiday will be run by a fully accredited Visit

Wales guide with accommodation and luggage transport included. Launched in 2000, Pembrokeshire Fish Week is an annual festival
