June 29, from 11.30am to 4pm for a fun-packed day of family entertainment. This year’s event includes pony rides, a mini-


ature steam railway, music, craft stalls, a Vic- torian fair and much more. Plus, remember to visit the range of quality shops already in town. The heritage parade starts at 1pm from the


top of Broad Street and this year celebrates the achievements of key historic fi gures from the town including Sarah Hopkins and Ken Jones. The parade is enjoyed by everyone, young

age town, enjoy a day in the countryside on Sunday, June 30, at Garn Lakes, from 10.30am to 4pm. The day will celebrate the rural heritage of


the Blaenavon World Heritage Site. Enjoy the display from local exhibitors – visit


the craft marquee and younger children can enjoy story-telling, face painting, trampolines and a bouncy castle assault course. The now well-established, dog show will start

PONTYPOOL CARNIVAL


WHEN? It’s on July 13, 12noon – 6pm with the parade leaving the top fl oor of the River- front Car Park at 1pm WHAT IS IT? The much-loved traditional carnival with the theme of Kings and Queens in celebration of 60 years of the Queen’s Coronation. WHAT’S HAPPENING? Be involved – dress up yourself or even your shop window and join in the col- ourful and vibrant parade that will leave the top fl oor of the Riverside Car Park at 1pm and meander through the town and end in the park. Be entertained – this year’s main


arena act is the Battling Cumberland Giants, cheer them on in this very funny


crowd pleasing show. The King himself, our local Elvis,


will be making an appearance on the Community Stage along with local dance groups and young talent. There’s lots of fun for the kids with


the fairground, climbing wall, tram- polines, infl atables, go-carts, arts and crafts and so much more. Sit and relax to an exciting showcase


of live bands at the bandstand. Be there: Come along to enjoy face


painting and carnival art sessions in Pontypool Indoor Market. Join the bustle of activity in the park with local traders, community groups, information and demonstrations – something for the whole family to enjoy.
