ARMO Events at the 2012 SEMA Show
Automotive Restoration Market Organization (ARMO) members and other industry professionals have many opportunities to network and learn how to improve their business operations at the 2012 SEMA Show. Mark your Show calendar now so you don’t miss out.
Council Booth
“ARMO Central”—the booth shared by ARMO and the Hot Rod Industry Alliance (HRIA)—is located at space #23395 in Central Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center (LVCC) in the heart of the Restora- tion Marketplace. Visitors can check out photos of all the cool, new restora- tion products that were on display in the ARMO New Products Showcase at Spring Carlisle in Carlisle, Pennsyl- vania. The photos will run on a loop- ing flat-screen display along with other ARMO and SEMA information. Also on display in the booth are a handful of beautifully restored cars. The booth is always staffed with an ARMO vol- unteer and/or a SEMA staff person ready to answer questions, engage in discussions about ARMO- or SEMA- member benefits and sign up new ARMO members.
ARMO Industry Awards Reception
ARMO leads off a week of coun- cil activities with its annual Industry Awards Reception Tuesday, October 30. The event will take place in Ball- room C of the Las Vegas Hotel (LVH) from 5:30 p.m.–7:30 p.m.
“We modified the program last year,” said ARMO Chairman Alex Tainsh of Parts Unlimited Interiors. “Instead of a formal program, we promoted a relaxed, networking envi- ronment. Based on all the positive feedback, we intend to stay that course for 2012.”

the Las Vegas Hotel, Wednesday, October 31, from 7:15 a.m.–9:00 a.m. This open council meeting is open to all current ARMO mem- bers and it is the best opportunity for members to interact with their Select Committee.
“The Select Committee is a group of representatives elected by the ARMO members,” said ARMO Chair-Elect Dennis Roberts of Dis- tinctive Industries. “The Select Com- mittee is charged with developing and delivering programs and proj- ects that benefit ARMO members. Like any elected body, though, we need to hear from members. We can send surveys, solicit feedback on Facebook, etc., but nothing beats a face-to-face dialogue. Except for the Long-Range Planning meeting, this is the only opportunity for an ARMO member to meet with the entire Select Committee.
“We absolutely want to see as many members as possible at this meeting. We will update the group on the lat- est happenings from ARMO, but we really want to hear from the members. What are we doing well? What should we be doing that we aren’t doing now? It’s early in the morning, I know. But bring your ideas; we’ll bring the coffee!”
ARMO Roundtable
The ARMO Roundtable discus- sion—which takes place Thursday, November 1, from 10:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. in Room N255 (North Hall) of the LVCC—is another SEMA Show staple for the restoration industry. This year’s title is, “I Hired Him, I Trained Him, He Left Me.” As the title suggests, the topic is Human Resources and the Small Business. There will be several successful restora- tion industry professionals and an HR expert on hand to lead the discussions. However, it should be noted that this is a “Roundtable Discussion,” where the intention is to hear from member- ship. Be sure to attend the ARMO Roundtable and exchange ideas with members of the ARMO Select Com- mittee. Help ARMO help you.
ARMO-Sponsored Education Seminars
One of ARMO’s primary goals for members is education. To that end, ARMO is sponsoring a seminar during Education Days at the 2012 SEMA Show entitled, “Modernize Electronics in Hot Rods, Classics and Musclecars,” which will be held Wednesday from 9:30 a.m.–10:30 a.m. in Room N257 (North Hall) of the LVCC.
