Continuing a Strong Tradition, continued from page 59
“We’re excited that the 2012 SEMA Show and the GTE is continuing to build on the outstanding response from the GTE last year. That momentum is more meaningful and relevant than ever before for tire manufacturers and buyers,” said Chris Kersting, SEMA president and CEO. “The dedicated GTE section in the South Hall and the expanded educational program will help buyers discover the potential that the tire industry has to offer.”
The GTE will also include expanded educational sessions specific to the tire industry, including the hugely popular “TPMS @ 10,” “Truck Tires @ 10” and “Tires @ 2” and sessions during the first three days. Each educational track, said TIA, will feature a session relevant to tire dealers led by the most knowledge- able experts in the tire industry. “The GTE educational sessions offered provide tire-industry attendees with the best of both worlds—they can get to up- to-the-minute, relevant and entertaining information from some of the world’s leading experts in the tire industry and still have time to make important busi- ness contacts and meet plenty of poten- tial suppliers,” said Littlefield.
Last year, GTE attendees thoroughly enjoyed two opening night special events: the Wine & Cheese Social and Tire Industry Honors. Both events will take place at the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas Hotel on Monday, October 29. The Wine & Cheese Social will start at 5:00 p.m. and is free to TIA members and GTE attendees.
Immediately following the Wine & Cheese Social, from 6:00 p.m.–7:30 p.m., will be Tire Industry Honors. Extremely well-attended last year, this year’s event will honor 2012 Tire Indus- try Hall of Fame inductees, as well as award winners and honorees from tire-industry publications, such as Tire Review’s Top Shop Award winner and recognition of the outgoing TIA Presi- dent Larry Brandt. In addition, the event will see the formal installation of TIA incoming President Randy Groh. Following the Tire Industry Honors event from 7:30 p.m.–9:30 p.m., TIA will host its GTE Welcome Reception, which will be held at the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas.
