Increasingly, consumers report that when it comes to technology, connectiv- ity and integration are key. For them, it’s not just a matter of having a smartphone or tablet. Rather, what many consum- ers want to know is whether or not their devices can work together. Now, thanks to several products from a company known for integrating technology and consumer electronics into automobiles, it’s possible for consumers to use their smartphone to stay connected, informed and entertained while driving.
Stay Smartphone Connected The Pioneer AppRadio concept, a tech- nology that is incorporated into select replacement car radios, revolutionizes the driver’s smartphone experience by making it possible to access many of the most popular smartphone apps from a device installed into the radio location of the vehicle’s dash. These in-dash radios are compatible with the iPhone 4S, iPhone 4 and multiple Android devices and feature large touchscreen displays, direct con- trol for iPod/iPhone, built-in Bluetooth for hands-free calling with phone book access, a dial pad and an included micro- phone. They also incorporate varying features, such as capacitive touch panels, navigation, audio video playback, built- in amplifiers (50 watts x 4) and more,
enabling system expansion for the user. Ultimately, these Pioneer products pro- vide safer access to the endless capabilities of smart devices and make it possible for anyone to transform their vehicle into a “connected car.”
Numerous Apps Apply Pioneer AppRadio-enabled products
are designed to grow with the most popu- lar smartphones and have the potential to support future hardware and updated versions of smartphone operating sys- tems. There are currently dozens of popular apps compatible with Pioneer AppRadio products that bring entertain- ment, information, connectivity and more into the car. Waze A free social mobile app, Waze is a
turn-by-turn voice navigation and driv- ing information app that uses reports and data collected from the community of Waze drivers to provide real-time traffic updates, road hazard information and more. The app is available and compat- ible with both iOS and Android smart- phones and because the data is 100% user generated, the more Waze users, the more accurate and comprehensive the information becomes.
DashCommand Utilizing the built-in GPS and accel-
erometer sensors in the smartphone, the app generates advanced performance driving information ideal for the automo- tive enthusiast, such as the skid pad, race track and inclinometer displayed on vir- tual dashboards using the patent-pending DashXL technology. DashCommand is also compatible with several OBD-II hardware interfaces which expand the app’s features to include monitoring, log- ging and playback of vehicle information and parameters. DashCommand gives users the most convenient vehicle diag- nostics and display solution—all acces- sible on Pioneer’s AppRadio products.
Pandora Internet Radio One of the most popular Internet radio
services available today brings the user’s favorite and newly discovered music to the dash of the vehicle. The Pandora interface for Pioneer AppRadio prod- ucts provides a familiar experience for users of the PC and smartphone Pan- dora players, enabling station selec- tion, song skip, song thumbs up/down and more.
