Executive Interview: Aaron Schulenburg, Executive Director, Society of Collision Repair Specialists (SCRS)
BodyShop Business Editor Jason Stahl sat down with SCRS Executive Director Aaron Schulenburg prior to this year’s SEMA Show to discuss what’s in store for collision repairers in Las Vegas.
BSB: This is the third year for the Repairer Driven Education (RDE) sessions. What is your general feel for RDE this year as far as attendance numbers and how it has been received? Schulenburg: The general feel so far has been fantastic. I think it’s going to be bigger and better, and I think we’re building momentum. As of late July, the early registration numbers were up almost 300% over last year, and I think that reflects a couple things. I think it shows the caliber of the courses that we’ve had for the past two years and the lineup this year. I think it also reflects the familiar- ity people now have with RDE. Two years ago, this was an event with a brand- new format that the industry was kind of figuring out, and I think this year, the industry has decided earlier that, “Hey, this is where we want to be.” We’re seeing a lot of companies wanting to support it, and we’re continuing to receive great support from a lot of our existing sponsors. Content-wise, I think everyone can expect information that once again is relevant and can provide tangible benefits to people who can return home from the Show and apply what they learned to their businesses.
