Join the SEMA Cruise
The SEMA Show is undoubtedly a highlight of the year for the industry, but the highlight for the local populace is the SEMA Cruise, a feature that was introduced last year. At the conclu- sion of the Show, as the booths are dismantled and the products are pack- aged for shipment home, the display cars are driven out of the convention center. While this parade of rolling art has always been highly anticipated, it became an official part of the Show in 2011.
When the SEMA Show officially ends at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, the SEMA Cruise begins. With the Show’s carpets rolled up, you’ll want to stick around to see this one last automotive blast. Featuring awards, giveaways, enter- tainment and even seating for the crowds who throng to view the hun- dreds of vehicles, the parade will once again conclude another eventful Show.
Hot Rod Alley Is More Than a Trip Down Memory Lane
One of the SEMA Show’s oldest sections, Hot Rod Alley spotlights the craftsmanship and creations of a mar- ket that many consider the cornerstone of the specialty-equipment industry. But don’t get the notion that this sec- tion remains mired in any sort of old- school past.
“Innovation is as alive in Hod Rod Alley as it is anyplace on the SEMA Show floor,” said SEMA Show Direc- tor Tom Gattuso. “In fact, with a substantial number of fresh entries each year, the exhibitors of Hot Rod Alley are no strangers to our Ideas Alive: Featuring the New Products Showcase section. This industry cat- egory is constantly benefitting from the
sort of creativity and technology that continues to enthuse buyers and other Show attendees.”
While admittedly not the largest section of the Show, Hot Rod Alley continues to grow in size and number of exhibitors each year, and encom- passes 30,000 sq. ft. for 2012—a healthy 12% increase in area over last year. Moreover, the history and value of the hot-rodding segment contin- ues to serve as inspiration for the entire specialty-equipment indus- try, and its styling influences and performance enhancements are evi- dent in many of the Show’s cus- tom display vehicles, regardless of market.
“Hot rod is one of the markets that represents the industry’s history of increasing vehicle performance through specially crafted parts,” said SEMA Vice President of Communications and Events Peter MacGillivray. “What helped give birth to an industry in the ’40s is still going strong today, and Hot Rod Alley showcases generations of performance and craftsmanship from leading companies.”
Located in the Central Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center, Hot Rod Alley is positioned between the SEMA Show’s Racing & Performance section and Mopar Alley, a fitting loca- tion for a core exhibiting space rooted in performance heritage.
