Rewarding careers began in the halls of the Medicine Hat College
Thousands of students have walked the hallways of Medicine Hat College since it opened its doors more than 40 years ago. And from nursing, business, the trades, teaching and more—graduates are proud to share their stories of their time at MHC and how their education has shaped their lives within Southeastern Alberta.

Friday August 17, 1973. New college, new program, and 19 new nursing graduates ready to head out into the world
“I started working the next Monday morning at the hospital,” recalled Hatter Linda Collier, the valedictorian of this newly minted nursing program class at Medicine Hat College.
Forty years later, Collier and many of her fellow grads are still working in the field — in acute care at hospitals, with the Primary Care Network (PCN). One is running a long-term care facility, another is helping with health research at a university. They still keep in touch, with reunions every five years.
Linda Collier, who was valedictorian of her nursing program at Medicine Hat College 40 years ago, still works in the field today.
Collier herself now works in Home Care through Alberta Health Services, one stop along her long career.
