t takes a dedicated, motivated and determined individual to lead an army and that is just what Major Murray Jaster is.


Murray and his wife, Major Annetta Jaster, lead the congregation at the Salvation Army Church but are far more than just a pair of ministers. They are admired and respected by the community they serve tirelessly. The Jasters maintain an impeccable reputation among those they serve and are touted as understanding, which likely has plenty to do with their


introduction to the ‘core’ itself.


“My wife and I were living in Swift Current and I was pretty much addicted to drugs and alcohol,” Murray says. “I was playing in a band — travelling around a fair amount — my life wasn’t going anywhere. My wife and I decided one day we would go to church and found our way to the Salvation Army.”


He and Annetta became deeply involved in the church which had accepted them with open arms. It wasn’t long before the couple found themselves answering a call to become officers. A move to Medicine Hat in
