Who is... Blake Petersen cont. their own personal situations.

“They were fed up with the $1,000 a month no-meet committee,” explains Pedersen. “That was a big one; everybody could get their head around what $1,000 a month was. It was not so much the big dollar stuff. When you're talking about millions and billions sometimes that gets over the heads of your average, everyday citizen... People wanted to talk about pocket book issues, and issues of entitlement with the government.”

Pedersen is happy his own hard work paid off and is very grateful to Medicine Hat voters for entrusting him to be their MLA; and for taking a gamble on a new party.

“I think Medicine Hat voters have taken a chance. It is obviously the people of Medicine Hat who have really worked hard at trying to make a change happen. So the responsibility is really on us as the new Opposition members to figure out how we're going to bring the voices of the voters to the Legislature. I know some people in Medicine Hat are uncomfortable about that, but as we have seen there have probably been more Ministers and more presentations by government officials in the seven months we've been active here than we have seen in years and years and years. So I think the government realizes that they still have to govern for the betterment of the province.” ■
