FEEDBACK
KnowledgeFest: Bringing It Home What did you bring back from Dallas, and what will make you go back next year?
“KnowledgeFest was great as always. For education and networking it is a MUST. I did notice that many people, myself included, seemed to leave the show this year planning to take action on more significant changes than before. For next year, I would like to see higher levels of education, business training, human resources training, etc.; more in-depth knowledge for the guys who are there year after year getting many of the same trainings. Examples would be the trainings Marcel and Jody did this year.” — Mike Bartells, Extreme Audio, Mechanicsville, Va.
“I got a lot of good information from the management training instructed by Marcel
with Avidworx. I will hire slow and fire fast with future employees. However, I wish that the vendor training classes were spread out more. I missed several vendor classes because they were held at the same time.”
— Stacy Waggoner, Audio Trixx and Tint, Dumas, Texas
“I knew I wanted to invest in my store this year as long as business was good. After listening to Josh and Jon and a few others at KnowledgeFest, I decided to remodel our install bay and use it as a sales tool. It’s nearly complete. I think KnowledgeFest is very good in its current state.”
— Mitch Schaffer, Mobile Edge, Lehighton, Pa. Published by
“I believe KnowledgeFest needs some diversification. It seems that the show has be- come a group of the same individuals always talking about ways to improve business in the same way as the year before. I believe we need to get other businesses that might not be as directly involved in our industry to attend and help us find our way.” — Robert Bess, Audio Specialists, Hopkinsville, Ky.
“Cost is still an issue for a lot of dealers. I know exhibiting manufacturers can help offset registration costs for some dealers, but it would also be nice if they could somehow use product incentives to help dealers offset the costs of travel.” — Ryan Pepsin, SRQ Custom Autosound, Sarasota, Fla.
“It would be good if KnowledgeFest was held in a more centralized location, making it easier and more cost-effective to bring more of our employees to the show. When the event was in Nashville and Louisville, my staff and I were able to attend often.” — Jeff West, Benchmark Audio, Springfield, Ill.
“From the classes and networking, we learned that it’s important to have processes for
everything we do, whether it’s sales, installs or customer service, and getting everyone in the company on board with using the same process. Still, while many of the classes were valuable, I would like to see them more in-depth and possibly longer. I felt a lot of the classes were rushed and/or cut short because of time.” — Sean Davis, Tip Top Automotive Appearance Specialist, Morris, Ill.
