Premium Sound An updated website and stronger By Jamie Sorcher
Promotions with a flyer run four to six times a year — more so during the busy remote start season, from October to January. T
echnology has a way of forcing us to keep up with the times — es- pecially true for retailers seeking modern and functional websites. “We had an old website that we up-
dated almost two years ago,” said Mike Cantley, owner of Premium Sound and Security, an Antioch, Ill.-based retailer in business for more than 20 years. “We wanted to keep the URL, so we just have it now where you type in the name of the store and get redirected to the new site.” When the home page loads for Premi-
um Sound and Security, the entire page is easy on the eye, with a clean look that incorporates lots of white space, yet employs modern touches and a simple menu to navigate. “The feedback we’ve gotten from our customers is that it’s easy to read and

simple to use,” explained Cantley. The top third of the page promotes all of the retailer’s vitals: company name, logo in the left hand corner, tag line, services offered, phone number and a clickable link to send an email. “The site has its own specific phone
number, so when a call comes into the store from that website, it generates an email,” said Cantley. “I can see how much traffic we’re getting from the site, not just how many calls we’re getting but I can monitor the calls, too. “I can actually listen in to find out how our guys are answering the phone, what questions the customers are asking, and hear how we’re responding during the conversation.”
The same top third area also has a tint box with seven clickable tabs that trans-
form from dark orange to light orange once each one is selected. Tabs include one for the home page, services, flyer, photo gallery, reviews, map and contact. In the Flyer section, for instance, there was a coupon at press time for remote car starters at $189.99 installed. “We try to run the flyers four to six times a year,”
said Cantley. “This is
our busiest time of the year — October through January — with remote start. During the summer months, we’ll do speaker-sub-amp promos.” The photo gallery is a strong presen- tation of the retailer’s top projects. The page has a main image that can be se- lected from one of the 78 thumbnails featured right below. “This is where we show off
our signature installations,” said Cantley. “It’s actually easier for us
