Juvenessence®
- Youth in full power
Many molecular mechanisms are involved in skin ageing. Lamin A, located in the nuclear membrane, is a protein that plays a fundamental role in its integrity and function, in DNA protection and gene expression (such as the genes involved in the protein synthesis, like collagen or elastin). Its altered version is called Progerin. Scientists have recently discovered that the increase of Progerin expression is linked to cell ageing. Therefore, this expression could provide a good biomarker of normal cellular ageing. BiotechMarine introduces Juvenessence, the innovative algal active ingredient that acts to down-regulate the Progerin production in ageing cells: -75% in 66 year old donors. At the same time, Juvenessence reactivates the metabolism of ageing cells by stimulating the detoxification (+24%), the mitochondrial activity (ATP: +42%), malate
shuttles: +31%, cell viability (UVB): +20%), the ribosomal activity (+29%) and the immune system
activity (IL1,6, 8: -12 to -21%, TNFα: -14%, IFNγ: -8%, epidermal lipids: +88 to +114%). In vivo studies confirm the anti-ageing efficiency: firmness: +10%, hydration: +19%,
improvement of the skin grain: +12%. Formulated in anti-ageing creams, repairing serums, BB creams, foundations and protective
sun creams, Juvenessence preserves the skin tissues from accelerated ageing. BiotechMarine, Stand D39
Innovative skin lightening ingredient
Kalichem Italia has developed an innovative, active and safe cosmetic ingredient with a lightening effect on the skin.
Kalilight is suitable for the prevention and
treatment of hyper pigmentation such as age spots and brawn spots due to skin photo ageing, hormonal variations and photo sensitisation. It is also useful in obtaining a more homogenous skin colour. Consisting of natural raw materials, amino acids and vegetal extracts with acknowledged and widely documented efficacy in the whitening activity, Kalilight is produced using a new technology that improves the active principle’s action.
An in vivo test has been conducted to evaluate its
whitening efficacy, by measuring the skin colour with a colorimeter chroma-meter cr400 minolta. The results showed a statistically significant increase of the cutaneous brightness, a statistically significant decrease of the yellow-blue parameter, and an increase of the ITA° parameter (the higher the value, the lighter the colour), indicating a statistically significant decrease of the cutaneous pigmentation. Kalilight is a new and effective ingredient suitable for use in both cosmetic formulations for the treatment of skin discoloration (de-pigmentation products) and in skin whitening and face care products.
Kalichem Italia Srl, Stand N60 New 100% natural liquid thickener
Today’s personal care market shows an increasing trend towards green and natural based concepts and formulations. These cosmetic products feature an interesting “free from” trend; i.e. they are preferably free from preservatives, ethoxylates, sulphates, silicones, etc. With this in mind, Kao Chemicals Europe has developed a 100% active natural thickener, Lauryl Lactate (EXCEPARL®
LM-LC). It gives superior viscosity performance versus traditional thickeners and
minimum effect on foaming in cleansing personal care formulations. EXCEPARL®
LM-LC is an ester of lactic acid. It is made from 100% renewable resources; the starting
materials are liquid, safe and therefore, easy to manipulate. The reaction is conducted without any solvent and at moderate temperature; therefore low energy consumption is needed. In addition, this reaction yields Lauryl Lactate without any residues. EXCEPARL®
LM-LC is an EO-free thickener suitable for companies seeking to formulate with eco-
friendly or natural raw materials. Kao Chemicals Europe SL, Stand ZA11
