Alfa Chemicals Ltd is launching the following new products at in-cosmetics 2012: • Sucragel AP: New oil-free, preservative-free, Ecocert approved oil thickener and cold-process emulsifier. Sucragel AP holds oil in place in a stable micro- emulsion, which enables the formulation of oily gels that instantly turn to milk on contact with water. Compatible with all non-polar oils, esters, silicones and sun filters

• Sucramulse 163: 100% PEG free, Ecocert approved emulsifier for oil in water emulsions. Designed for use as the only emulsifier in a formulation. Ideal for light lotions as well as body butters and thick creams, with no excess greasiness. Gives a luxurious skin feel, improved moisturisation and smoothness by protecting and strengthening the skin’s barrier

• Sucrathix VX: New Ecocert approved water thickener for use with Sucramulse 163 to help achieve a desired viscosity. Provides shear thinning, enabling use in pump and spray bottles. Brings a very soft, non-sticky touch to emulsions and increases stability and heat resistance

Alfa Chemicals Ltd, Stand N50 Full product disclosure from the label

Floratech has announced an innovative service which provides ingredient disclosure via QR (Quick Response) code printed on sample and product labels. Scanning a code with a mobile device leads to a rich menu of lot- specific information about the material. For example, formulators can browse formulas, product descriptions, efficacy claims, and data sheets. Quality personnel can obtain appropriate certificates of analysis, material safety data sheets, and nomenclature and registration information. In addition, logistics personnel will find emergency contact, storage, and hazard information - all of which can easily be delivered to anyone via email. “We see this as a way to serve our customers in an effective and rational manner”, says Steve Brown, Vice

President of Floratech. “This tool will increase productivity of formulators and brand managers since it allows them to “pull” updated information within seconds. Nobody in our industry has done this yet, but soon almost everyone will.”

Five decades of success

In 2012 Sachtleben is celebrating five decades of producing titanium dioxide using the classic sulphate process. This process enables the production of both specialties of titanium dioxide, rutile and anatase. High-purity, GMP conformant titanium dioxide is the first choice for colour cosmetic products, if excellent opacity for high-intensity colours is requested. The Sachtleben TiO2 products are also halal and kosher certificated and meet all international quality and purity standards.
