A Sustainable Supply Chain Approach Burkarina has developed a "sustainable supply chain" approach in order to improve and control its supply chain for Shea kernels. This approach relies on transparent and long-term relations with women's cooperatives. This partnership is embodied by memorandum of understanding, the terms of which are defined in a participative manner.


The objectives of this approach are: • Fair, transparent and guaranteed remuneration for the women


• Control of the quality of kernels through training: o Of women in best practices in kernel processing o Of cooperative managers in quality control


• Total and unique traceability from the supply of kernels from women in the villages, to the butter delivered to Olvea


• The development of the economic fabric in rural areas

With over 80 years of experience and know-how, OLVEA source and select tailor-made vegetable oils suitable to your cosmetic applications. All OLVEA’s raw materials come from supply chains which are carefully selected according to sanitary safety and production processes, and closely monitored according to ISO 9001 standard and HACCP methods.


Olvea has integrated the global supply chain of:


• Argan Oil, with a production unit in Morocco: Marogania


• Shea Butter, with a production unit in Burkina Faso: Burkarina


Shea Butter Production Burkarina produces solvent-free and water-free first press Shea butter. To guarantee the health safety of its


production, Burkarina has set up a quality management system and has an on-site laboratory that conducts daily inspections. Burkarina is organic certified by Ecocert,


according to NOP standards and regulation CE 889/2008.


Cosmetic Applications


Founded in 2007, Burkarina is based in Bobo Dioulasso, Burkina Faso, in the heart of Shea country. Burkarina is a global supply chain provider of Shea butter, and all of Burkarina's production is distributed exclusively by Olvea.


Shea butter has an exceptionally high unsaponifiable matter (karitene, terpene alcohols) and tocopherol content.


It is used in the formulation of a wide range of beauty products: Skin care, sun products, lip care and hair care.
