GLOBAL PLANT NEWS ALCEA Ficifolia-Hybr.

’Las Vegas’ Among its new varieties for 2012, Jelitto Seeds considers hollyhocks one of the most popular, recognisable and easy-to-grow perennials. The decorative fig leaf hollyhock is hard to miss. The curvy leaves of the traditional species are very distinctive but the saucer-shaped parchment-like blossoms shine like the bright colorful lights of its namesake. Jelitto’s ‘Las Vegas’ (pictured) is longer lived than the typical biennial hollyhocks, and will flower the first year from seed if started early. 8For more information visit www.jelitto.com
