HORTICULTURE NEWS Plant retail analysis

With over 30 years experience in the plant business, Jim Teague has recently launched his own company aiming to improve the way

we sell plants. Jim feels that now is the perfect time for plant retailers to be analysing and planning how they manage and develop this key product category. Whatever the weather or the economy throws at us, plants will always be at the core of garden retail. Due to the constant erosion of the horticultural skill-set within the garden centre industry, Jim feels we must act now through working closer with growers and developing a better strategic understanding of our core product. Jim is certain that there are significant gains to be made in efficiencies and ultimately profitability within plant areas. 8For more information visit www.jimteague.co.uk

Resounding success

for GroSouth! The inaugural GroSouth Exhibition held on November 9, 2012 was a resounding success. The weather was superb and visitor and exhibitor numbers reflected a positive atmosphere and a tangible buzz! The initial feedback so far has been excellent from both exhibitors and visitors. Visitor numbers of 600+ were above expectations and after extending the floor plan and adding more stands, the total number of exhibitors for 2011 was 123 which included many first time exhibitors. Next year’s show is already set to be a success with several new exhibitors already booked in addition to confirmed bookings for 2012 from the majority

of this year’s exhibitors. The 2012 show will be held on November 7. 8For more information visit info@grosouth.co.uk
